BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – In the 2025 season opener, Lane College Softball defeated Blue Mountain Christ College 3-1 on Monday. The win marked a significant milestone for first-year head coach Bubba Cummings, as it was his first career NCAA victory.

The Dragons came out strong in the first inning, with a timely RBI single from Koralie Morin, driving in Kyra Vieux for an early 1-0 lead. Despite being held scoreless in the second and third innings, Lane continued to apply pressure, adding another run in the fourth. With the bases loaded, Jazmyne Brown reached on a fielder’s choice, bringing home a run, and giving Lane a 2-0 advantage.

Blue Mountain responded in the fifth with a run-scoring single by Nicole Barrier, who advanced to second on the play, scoring pinch-runner M. Macri. However, Lane’s defense, backed by the steady pitching of Morin, kept Blue Mountain from getting any closer.

In the sixth, Lane added another run when Ja’Kai Ray singled to second base, advancing to third on a wild play, and scoring Halle Koger, who reached base on an error earlier in the inning.

Morin pitched a complete game and was dominant in the circle. She scattered three hits, struck out five, and allowed only one earned run, throwing 107 pitches in a solid 7-inning performance.
